Electrical & Electronics

Materials engineered for electrical safety and reliable performance.

Politem develops compounds for electrical and electronic components requiring controlled flammability, electrical insulation, dimensional stability and consistent processing.

Material Performance Where Safety Matters

Electrical and electronic applications combine demanding safety requirements with thin-wall design, precise moulding and long-term thermal performance. The material must support the function of the component while processing consistently at production scale.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

• Connectors and terminal blocks

• Circuit-breaker and fuse housings

• Switch and socket components

• Electrical enclosures

• Cable-management systems

• Sensor housings

• Coil formers and bobbins

• Relay and control components

• Lighting components

• Industrial electrical parts

Material and Technology Portfolio

Politem's portfolio includes reinforced, flame-retardant and halogen-free options for different electrical, mechanical and processing requirements.

Material Platform

Relevant Technologies

PA6 and PA66

Reinforced, flame-retardant, halogen-free flame-retardant, heat-stabilised and hydrolysis-resistant grades

PBT

Dimensional stability, electrical insulation, flame retardancy and low moisture sensitivity

PP

Flame-retardant, mineral-reinforced and halogen-free options for selected applications

PC ABS and ABS

Impact performance, surface quality and flame-retardant options for housings

PPA

High-temperature performance, dimensional stability and reinforced solutions for demanding components

Performance Priorities

Performance targets are selected according to component thickness, electrical function, operating temperature, environment and required safety classification.

• UL 94 flammability behaviour

• Glow-wire performance

• Comparative tracking resistance

• Electrical insulation

• Heat resistance

• Dimensional stability

• Low warpage

• Mechanical strength

• Hydrolysis and chemical resistance

• Reliable thin-wall processing

Application Driven Development

Formulation decisions may address polymer selection, reinforcement level, flame-retardant system, colour, flow behaviour and dimensional control. The objective is to reach the required property balance without adding performance that the application does not need.

TESTING AND VALIDATION

In-house evaluation may include UL 94, glow-wire, GWFI, GWIT, needle-flame and ball-pressure methods together with mechanical and thermal testing. CTI and other project-specific analyses may be coordinated externally upon request. These activities are testing capabilities and do not constitute third-party certification, listing or approval.
